One of the most common solutions for facial lines, of course, is botox. Places like Essex Medspa Botox Treatments Littleton should be able to give you the services and treatment you need, so get started with a consultation first.

Once you’re ready, don’t forget to prepare for your session with these steps, especially if it’s your first time getting a botox treatment.

Put Medications on Pause

You may not realize it, but this has an important role in the success of your botox treatment. There are certain medications that you need to avoid prior to your treatment so it does not interfere with the effectiveness of the botox treatment

These medications usually include blood thinners, NSAIDS, and relaxants, as well as allergy medications. The reason is that these can cause excessive bleeding. Ideally, you should stop taking the following drugs at least a couple of weeks before your botox appointment:

  • Aspirin
  • Ibuprofen
  • Warfarin
  • Sleeping aids
  • Omega Oils
  • Vitamin E

Prepare Your Skin with Ice

Botox treatments involve the use of injections. To minimize bruising, it’s been found that putting ice on the area of treatment before the procedure helps. Apply an ice pack on your face for at least 20 minutes, preferably the night before your treatment, so that the effect will last until the actual treatment session.

Do not apply the ice directly to your skin. If you don’t have an ice pack, you can wrap the ice in a towel, or you can instead use a bag of frozen fruits or vegetables.

Avoid Facial Products

At least leading up to your botox treatment, it’s ideal for you to keep your face free from any products, which means you’ll need to shelf your skin-care routine for now. At most, you can use a mild cleanser, then wash with water, to prepare your skin before the treatment. This is to make sure that the botox will not react with any other ingredients on your skin, thus avoiding complications and ensuring that your treatment is a success.

Stop Smoking and Drinking

Smoking creates fine lines and wrinkles on your face, which are exactly the problems you want to resolve with your botox treatment. Use a nicotine patch in the meantime if you really can’t be without your fix, but avoid puffing a stick, especially before and after the botox treatment. Otherwise, it’s going to counter the intended effects of the treatment.

At the same, you should also avoid drinking because alcohol tends to dehydrate the skin. You need your skin to be in great shape in order to enjoy the full benefits of the botox treatment.
