5 Superfoods You Should Eat Every Day

In today’s culture, it’s easy to constantly find yourself on the go. Between work, kids, and the many other responsibilities one may have as an adult, it’s natural for people to start neglecting their health. It becomes common for people to trade their health for convenience. When it does not feel like there are enough hours in the day people start to sacrifice taking care of their bodies. This generally manifests itself through fast foods, quick meals, and less exercise.

5 Superfoods You Should Eat Every Day

While grabbing quick meals may initially seem like an easy place to save time, in the long run, it could cost you your health. Even when you are living a busy lifestyle there are plenty of ways you can integrate healthy food options into your daily diet. By just adding these five healthy food choices you can make a huge impact on your overall health. Combined with at least 15 minutes of exercise per day, you can improve your health and you can avoid many of the health issues that are associated with an unhealthy lifestyle.

Berries

Eating fresh or frozen berries is a great way to add vitamin C and antioxidants to your day, and they improve brain function! Berries like raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and others are sweet and can even help you satisfy that sugar craving while staying healthy.

Berries also add great flavor to smoothies and are perfect for bowls of yogurt. These fruits are also great for snacks or adding to your breakfast and are a good option if you are short on time. While you can eat frozen fruit, it’s still better to have them fresh.

Greens

Another food you should eat every day is leafy greens. You can mix spinach into your eggs for breakfast or have them in your salad for lunch or even sauté the greens as a side for dinner.

Leafy greens are an incredibly diverse option and some people even add them to their smoothies. There are many different types of leafy greens too. They can range from kale to Brussels sprouts. Leafy greens are rich in vitamins that are good for your red blood cells and that help prevent blood clotting.

Superfoods

You may see articles that mention “superfoods”, but what exactly are they? And how do they benefit your health? Superfoods surprisingly even include some of the foods we mentioned before like blueberries and kale, but they can come in a variety of forms.

They are packed with a ton of nutrients and are a great way for you to add antioxidants, healthy fats, and fibers into your diet. They are thought to prevent health problems like diabetes and heart disease.

Superfoods like chia seeds, flax seeds, and hemp seeds are great for putting in a smoothie or yogurt bowl. These superfoods are small, and you will not need to use but a spoonful of them in order to see the health benefits.

Yogurt

Another simple and healthy snack that you can have is yogurt. Yogurt is filled will probiotics, which are types of bacteria that are actually good for you and aid in maintaining your digestive health. It’s also filled with lots of calcium and with Greek yogurt especially, you can get nearly a quarter of the recommended amount of calcium per day.

Yogurt is perfect to have plain with some berries or honey, but you can also use it when making your smoothies. It is also a good way to have as a healthy dessert option. You can buy individual servings of yogurt and take them with you to work or grab one as a quick snack before you head out the door.

Eggs

Eggs are not only extremely cost-efficient but also offer great culinary diversity. You can have them scrambled for breakfast or have them hard-boiled on a salad. You can also have those hard-boiled eggs as a snack by themselves. Eggs are very rich in protein and vitamin D.

They also have choline in them, which is actually a nutrient that was only recently discovered. Eggs are a perfect option for many people because they have an excellent amount of protein and can be cooked in so many ways!

Plan ahead, and choose the right foods! Even with a busy lifestyle, you can find ways to take care of yourself.
