3 Tips for Losing Weight on Top of Diet and Exercise Routines

It’s the age-old story: you are eating healthy non-processed foods and working out regularly yet still, are not completely satisfied with the shape of your body. “What more can I do?” you may be asking yourself. Here are three tips for boosting weight loss you might want to try.

Sleep

When you don’t make time for adequate sleep, your body produces higher amounts of the hunger hormone ghrelin and smaller amounts of the fullness hormone leptin. Studies show that when tired, people tend to consume an average of 300 more calories than those that are well-rested. More recent studies indicate that regardless of what you eat, sleep deprivation reduces fat cells’ response to regulating insulin-making weight loss more difficult.

Intermittent Fasting

Without changing what you eat, intermittent fasting can boost weight loss by changing when you eat. The two most common schedules for fasting are a daily 16/8 fast (eating only during a set 8 hour time period), and a twice per week 24 hour fast (little to no food other than water for 24 hours). Fasting forces your body to adjust hormone levels to make stored fat more accessible. It also increases the release of the fat-burning hormone norepinephrine, which helps speed up your metabolic rate. Using stored fat for energy boosts fat loss.

Body sculpting

Sometimes no matter what you’ve tried, fat becomes diet and exercise-resistant. Body sculpting is a fast and non-surgical way to remove body fat by freezing targeted fat cells to kill them. Over time, the body naturally eliminates the dead fat cells and expels them through the lymphatic system. Changes start becoming visible after 2-4 weeks, but the most significant changes will be seen after 2-4 months. These fat cells are gone for good, but the procedure does not prevent new fat cells from forming, so maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program is important for keeping your slim new look long-term.

A more healthy and attractive you begins with diet and exercise, but it doesn’t end there. Scientists are making discoveries every day that link physical health with mental health and vice versa. Treating the whole body by combining a healthy diet, physical exercise, adequate sleep, and mindfulness can produce amazing results. Regardless of what choices you make to create the healthiest body possible, be kind to yourself and keep in mind that we’re all a work in progress.
