Do you have a hectic work schedule?
Do you have a hectic work schedule? Is your workload too much due to the pandemic? Do you feel tired after a long & hard day? If you agreed to each of these sentences, don’t worry, pal—you are not alone.
The workload is increasing for everyone around the globe. It doesn’t matter whether you are working from home or office. The increasing workload can sometimes put you down. Some days are so hectic & long that after work, you do not feel like doing anything. Your morale is down, especially if the day wasn’t as productive as you hoped for.
It is upsetting, but we have the perfect recipe for uplifting your mood. What’s that? FOOD! Of course! A great dish or beverage can enhance your mood, make you feel better and stress-free. It calms you down for a better day tomorrow. However, uplifting food doesn’t have to be unhealthy. Thus, we are listing a few items that will elevate your mood. Also, it will do that without loading you with sugar or unhealthy carbs.
1. A hearty cup of coffee
Yes, drinking coffee late at night can interfere with your sleep. But not everyone has this problem. If you are one of the lucky ones, use your Nespresso pod to brew a strong cup of coffee. Choose one of the flavored coffee pods, like the caramel, for an enhanced taste. If you are a more milk-coffee type of person, make it healthy by using low-fat milk or plant-based milk. Add stevia to make it sweet. Skip whipped cream as it is, high in sugar. Drink it iced or cold, and you will immediately perk up. Enjoy a movie or a conversation with your partner over coffee.
2. Pasta
Pasta is a great pick-me-up dish. It is savory, fulfilling, and it can be healthy, too. Try using whole-wheat or multigrain pasta. Keep the ratio of protein higher than the carbs. Add tons of vegetables, like broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers, and anything that you like. If you eat meat, add bacon or chicken pieces or fish to it. It will increase the protein amount in it.
Enjoy it with a glass of red wine (it’s fine in moderation), and you will feel incredible. Pesto pasta is also an incredible & healthy pick-me-up.
3. A bowl of Quinoa
Quinoa is a healthier grain and also light on your stomach. It is also simple to cook. So, when you are feeling down, making it will be a breeze. Also, the taste will uplift your mood. Cook it or order a quinoa salad instead of binging chips—it will make you feel worse afterward.
Add tons of vegetables, grilled chicken, and tons of lemon in it for an appetizing meal.
4. Multigrain grilled cheese sandwich
Toast is always welcome and can perk up anyone. When you are feeling down, get your multigrain or whole-wheat bread out. Toast them & start making grilled cheese.
Use boiled egg and avocado mixture & cheddar cheese on top to
make the sandwich. Or you can use multiple vegetables, chop them up, and use
them as the filling. Add yogurt & cheese to make it more satiating. After
eating this, you will feel so much better.
5. Order a salmon
Salmon fish is full of nutrients. It can decrease sadness & depressing thoughts in people. Order a salmon salad or dish from your favorite restaurant and enjoy it with a glass of red or white wine.
6. Hot chocolate
Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and makes stress go away. It is comforting, and when you use it to make hot chocolate, nothing could be cozier than that. To make it healthier, use dark chocolate, cocoa, milk of choice, a pinch of coffee & cinnamon, and let them come to a boil. After that, put some vanilla extract and a bit of stevia. Enjoy it in front of your TV and feel better.
7. Tea
Teas like green or chamomile tea can reduce stress and increase happy hormones in your body. It also helps you sleep better, so try it the next time after having a long & hard day.
Try these pick-me-ups and sleep well. The two most important things to take the next day head-on. Also, make a to-do-list so you do not feel overwhelmed the next day.
