10 Foods Under 50 Calories
1. Celery
The thing I love about celery is that there are many ways you can eat it. Chopped up in soups and salads and casseroles or dip it into a healthy dip for a quick snack or at lunch. 1 celery stalk has a mere 16-17 calories.
2. Orange
I love oranges, one small orange has only 45 calories! You can add them to smoothies, cut them up and eat them for snack or lunch, or a tasty treat when you get that mid-day snack attack.
3. Brussels Sprouts
Raw brussels sprouts contain excellent levels of vitamin C and vitamin K at only 38 calories per cup! My favorite way to eat them is with a little EVO and balsamic vinegar splashed over them, then baked for 30 minutes in the oven. So delish.
4. Cabbage
I think cabbage gets a bad rap! 1 cabbage leaf has only 6 calories and can be eaten raw or cooked.4 With zero calories, this is a staple vegetable in my house.
5. Cucumber
With only 16 calories in a cup5, this is one vegetable you should be eating! I find healthy cucumber recipes in a variety of places, think outside the salad!
6. Lemon
I personally have been eating lemons – since I was a kid – like they are apples. One lemon has only 17 calories in it and 51 percent of your vitamin C.
7. Romaine Lettuce
There are only 10 calories8 in 1.5 cups of this leaf lettuce. This is one of the easiest salads to grow and re-grow! To regrow, just cut the leaf down about 1 inch from the bottom. Place remaining stem in a shallow dish of water (about 1/2 inch). Place on the window sill and watch it grow! Change the water every few days.
8. Cauliflower
1 cup chopped cauliflower has only 27 calories. I love all the newest ways to swap cauliflower for your high-carb foods like the crust on your pizza and making mashed potatoes!
9. Watermelon
1 cup diced watermelon has only 46 calories and 20 percent of your vitamin C. Who doesn’t like watermelon?
10. Tomatoes
There are only 22 calories in one whole tomato! You can eat them raw or in a variety of dishes!
